Kathie Lee Gifford was the co-host for the fourth hour of TODAY with Hoda Kotb, from 2008 to April 5, 2019. Entertainment Weekly had hailed the Gifford/Kotb hours as appointment television, and USA Today referred to TODAY's "happy hour" in an article. Gifford composed TODAY, the Musical in 2014 with the hosts of the show. She also wrote songs every month to promote Everyone Has a Story. In 2015 Gifford was named to the Broadcast & Cable Hall of Fame. Prior to NBC News Gifford served as the co-host of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee for fifteen years. During that time, she earned eleven Emmy nominations. Her three-year stint as an Good Morning America journalist was later followed by her work as a playwright producer, and singer-songwriter.
