Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for the Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi was later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just seven years old. Comaneci competed for the first time at the national junior championships, placing 13th. In the following year, she was crowned champion. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by the communist bloc nations. In 1973 and 1974, she was the junior champion in all-round competitions. When she competed for the first time at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals as well being awarded a silver. She won the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and was the first female to ever dismount bars in parallel with a double backward salto. When she was in her teens she was performing on traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a American citizen who was born on September 6 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol's professional career started in the entertainment industry in her teens. She began her professional career by performing figure skating alongside Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment show Ice Capades. Ice Capades featured performances of skating on ice performed by actors.
